The Body Snatchers

Almost forgot… Last week I also read The Body Snatchers (L’invasione degli ultracorpi in italian) by Jack Finney.

I found this book to be simply great – expecially when you consider it’s from 1955. Finney manages to find a balance between atmosphere (which I find quite reminiscent of the great american gothic authors), a believable plot and good storytelling. I certainly look forward to reading more from him.

By the way, this was the first book from Mondadori’s new Urania series I finished. I must concede the translation sounds ok, but there’s vast margin for improvement still. While italian spelling and grammar are correct except for a passage or two in the whole book, at several points I was left wondering what the original was. But at €4.90 each, it’s still a deal so I guess I’ll keep buying them.
