Instructions

Main configuration

First of all, you should choose where to store your generated XML files; you can let the plugin figure everything out by itself, or you can specify a directory and matching URL prefix.

Channels

There is some mandatory and some optional information you need to enter. You must enter a filename and a URN; the URN should start with urn:, as some tools enforce that, but it might work without, just try. You should also enter a title and description and they will be displayed in the client.
Next is the logo, and here things become interesting: if you specify an SVG file, it will be displayed in the top “edge” in the client! this allows you to customize the way your channel is delivered to your users, which is a very nice touch. You can also specify an overlay, but I don’t have much information on that right now.
Incidentally, if you want to see how custom logos and overlays look, try one of my channels; copy and paste the URL for the in the Joost client search box.

Shows

Now you need to populate the channel with shows. What you need is a set of Joost links; you can get hold of those in a few ways. You can use the client: when you hit the “i” button on any channel or show, you’ll get a button title “copy link”; just paster that into the channel editor and you’re ready to go. Or, you can go to the Joost website and search or browse for shows; the URL of the page is the Joost link. Or, more and more websites are starting to post Joost links; like, say, here on this very blog :-) .
